Totemic
chaplet
The devotion to
the Divine Mercy
has a very long tradition in Cremona's province, when
in Castelleone on May, 1511, the Holy Virgin
appeared to
a woman, Domenica Zanenga,
presenting Herself as the "Holy Mary of Mercy" (a sanctuary was built
in that place to remember this event, and nowadays it is still visited
by several pilgrims every year).
This clear call for trusting in God's Mercy has preceded of five
hundred years the wonderful mystic experiences of Saint
Faustina Kowalska (1905 - 1938, Kraków,
Poland), experiences which had Jesus as protagonist, and the "totemic
chaplet" is humbly inspired to His revelations. This devotional chaplet
is simply a way to pray God relying on His Mercy and
Providence.
2 - We adore You, oh Christ, and we bless You, because by Your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.
3 - (On the three intermediate beads, for the intentions of the Holy Father) "Our Father", "Hail Mary" and "Glory be to the Father".
4 - (For our personal intentions) Heart of Jesus You know, Heart of Jesus You can, Heart of Jesus You see, Heart of Jesus You provide, Heart of Jesus You grant, Heart of Jesus take care of us.
5 - Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
6 - (On the fifty small beads) For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
7 - (On the four big beads) Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.
8 - Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
9 - Angels of God, our guardian dear, to whom God's love commits us here, ever this day, be at our side, to light and guard, rule and guide. Amen.
10 - (On the three intermediate beads, for the souls of the Purgatory) Eternal rest, grant to them, oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.
11 - Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of Your Mercy.
12 - (Sign of the Cross - keep the cross among the first three fingers of your hand as a symbol of the Holy Trinity) In the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
